Query by idontknow: Do you agree that this may be the greatest statement on racism ever?
A nation that as soon as prided itself on a sense of rugged individualism has become uncomfortably obsessed with racial group identities.
The collectivist mindset is at the heart of racism.
Government as an institution is especially ill-suited to combat bigotry. Bigotry at its essence is a issue of the heart, and we can not alter people’s hearts by passing far more laws and regulations.
It is the federal government that most divides us by race, class, religion, and gender. By means of its taxes, restrictive regulations, corporate subsidies, racial set-asides, and welfare applications, government plays far also significant a role in determining who succeeds and who fails. Government “benevolence” crowds out genuine goodwill by institutionalizing group thinking, hence making every group suspicious that other people are receiving far more of the government loot. This leads to resentment and hostility amongst us.
Racism is simply an ugly type of collectivism, the mindset that views humans strictly as members of groups rather than as individuals. Racists believe that all folks who share superficial physical characteristics are alike: as collectivists, racists feel only in terms of groups. By encouraging Americans to adopt a group mentality, the advocates of so-named “diversity” actually perpetuate racism.
The true antidote to racism is liberty. Liberty means obtaining a limited, constitutional government devoted to the protection of person rights rather than group claims. Liberty signifies free of charge-market place capitalism, which rewards individual achievement and competence – not skin color, gender, or ethnicity.
In a free of charge society, every single citizen gains a sense of himself as an individual, rather than establishing a group or victim mentality. This leads to a sense of person responsibility and individual pride, generating skin color irrelevant. Racism will endure till we stop thinking in terms of groups and start thinking in terms of person liberty.

Racism is not the only point that plagues America. The guy who mentioned this or wrote this forgot to include Homophobia, Anti-Semitism, and Sexism. However, nevertheless, these 3 are much more “acceptable” in this nation.
Ah, and I get thumbs down. See? LOL!
I am curious where Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are when Jews get openly blasted in the media? Or, what about hte continuous mockery and harrassment of Gays? Or, about females making much less then males in the work spot?
Hatred and bigotry seems to be very “segregrated” and individuals compete to see who’s had it worse.

to end racism we need to be colorblind……….sadly this is blasphemy within the ranks of the democrats. Big govt and broken down and divided racial groups perpetuates the victimization of the minorities………..therefore when people feel victimized they tend to vote liberally.

I agree. How can we have a color blind society if we continue to catagorize people based on skin color or ethnic background. Just another reason why affirmative action is wrong.

No. It is too long and doesn’t reflect reality.

No. I disagree because this would never work in implementation. Some people will always be racist because of ignorance, fear, and pride.
Don’t blame the democrats for the problems of society. Democrats recognize the problems and want to do something. We have a heart. We know what really matters.

I somewhat agree.
The big DEBATE is not that there is a PROBLEM but how to solve the problem.
And racism has always been here, the Irish were greatly discriminated against. Through group effort they became part of the “powers that be” and then gained seats around the tables.
Free market capitalism has rules and those rules were determined by the white male propertied members of our society.
Until EVERYONE has free access there will be “institutionalized racism”. And sexism as well.
In order for your theory to work it must not be a “members” only club.
Peace.

The only problem is that people are individuals, yet they ARE also members of racial groups that are not constituted purely by physical traits. Race is not just skin color.
Anti-racism is ultimate collectivism because it removes the qualities that separate us and seeks to regard all as the same. It also ruthlessly punishes anyone that doesn’t preach its dogma.
True liberty doesn’t penalize people for harboring unpopular opinions or beliefs.
So I would disagree that this is the “greatest statement on racism ever.”

I would say that is probably hitting the nail on the head.See what people of this country dont realize is.They want us to be divided.Government knows if we can come together as 1.We will be able to be on the same page with all the issues we face in this country.
The NAACP is a part of this. They feed money into this organazation to keep us divided. They also let extreme white supremacy groups to keep the racial tension alive.
In order for us to truly reach our full potential in this country and make the changes neccassary to have an equal country. We need to stop letting the media play there role.
See the government censors most media in this country as well. They make sure that anything that keeps us divided. Is reported on the news.
Government is so corrupt nowadays it isnt funny anymore. The statement is true.It also is true for homophobia, and anything anybodys does or creates that the government thinks could undermine ther ultimate goal.Keeping themselves rich and keeping us where they must.if we as a country are satnding on opposite sides of the fence. Then they know they have us divided. The only way to change this.Is to not recognize the color barrior. We the people. Not we the white or black. We have to become a whole unity. And be 1.
We have to stop letting the actions of a few people in this country affect us as a whole. That is the only way.

Brilliant, who thought of that ?
So the KKK will give all those strange fruit a break now and the Puerto Ricans will be
seen as equal , and all those other non
whites, even the Jews will not be attacked,
well I suppose that is a bit much to expect
is’t it ?
Got to admit tho’, that was a brilliant try at
twisted rhetoric.
Better luck next time.
Try it on people more stupid !!!

I would wish that Bush could read this.
He is the great “divider” in our nation and has pitted us against each other throughout his presidency….and I use the term lightly.
A barrel of apples rots from the bottom….a government rots from the top.
