Question by Shipmaster Liam: Christians: Query about rapping?
Okay. So I’ve asked two other queries about this nowadays, but no a single seems to be understanding, so I’m gonna say it as plainly as attainable:
I rap, but I’ve observed 1st hand the unfavorable effects of drugs, alcohol, premarital sex, hatred, and so forth. Consequently, although I could occasionally use a “foul word”, the common message of all my music is to get away from all those negative items, and that you can still be cool when you do. I DO NOT promote undesirable items, although I mention them. In reality, I lately wrote some lyrics exactly where I do the opposite, and promote DROPPING these negative factors. Nonetheless I did use the “F word” a few times in it. I really feel that the greatest way to get to people who live those lives is to speak to them in a way that is not “holier than thou” and that they will realize and relate to. Then when they say “Hey, this guy actually isn’t obtaining down on me” they’ll listen to the genuine message, which is “Get away from those poor items.”
Additionally, I have Jesus in my heart as my Lord and Savior, I enjoy God and Jesus with my whole heart (best example, even though I rap and use foul words occasionally, the “principal point” is to get other people to walk away from Satan and love God and accept Jesus as properly).
I ALSO try to “bear good fruit” BESIDES loving Jesus and God. I donate to my church, volunteer there all the time, I do charity function, I have a weblog that attempts to aid individuals along their journey to God, I pray numerous times a day, and I actually aspire to develop a church some day.
Contemplating ALL of this, do you assume MY raps, by the description I gave, are “evil” and could land me in hell?

if you feel rappin is gonna land u in hell, then u possibly dont recognize the which means of the gospel in the initial spot. “whosoever BELIEVETH in Him — should not perish, and so forth..”
but to answer ur query, i dont feel folks are evil for rapping. i think thats a great technique and that men and women need to quit getting so closed-minded and realize that God functions in mysterious methods. If its for good and intended to glorify Him i say its all excellent.
peace.

(*WHEW*) I didn’t think you would EVER get to an actual question. I almost fell asleep in your rant.
But in answer to your question, it is sin to swear. You don’t win an alcoholic by getting drunk; you don’t win over a drug addict by getting stoned; and you don’t win over (who?) by swearing and using inappropriate language!
And that is NOT being “holier-than-thou” if you have a higher moral standard! Don’t get confused between wanting to be a better person and being “holier-than-thou”. If that were the case, we should all be derelict, bums, who are alcoholic drug addicts, because otherwise, the fact that you are NOT would be considered “holier-than-thou” to some one else. Based on YOUR way of thinking, you can NEVER better yourself or live up to a higher standard, etc.
Your words show what kind of fruit you have. Jesus said that what comes out of your mouth is an indication of what’s in your heart. “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.”
Donating money and volunteering and doing charity work is NOT what makes a person a Christian. It is believing on, following, and obeying Jesus Christ. (“Believing on Him” means to trust in, cling to, and totally rely on Him.)
It is when you parade your “good” works, is when you are a “holier-than-thou”. Jesus said don’t let your right hand know what your left hand is doing. He said when you give, give in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you openly. But if you give in order to be seen (and praised) by men, you already have YOUR reward.”
Are you getting all this? I’m trying to address each of the main points you talked about.

I won’t say you’re evil, but you’ve got to realize that all actions (like cursing) have consequences. Just doing good doesn’t blot out bad. I know cursing may not seem like a big deal, but at Ephesians 4:31 it says to, “let all… abusive speech be taken away from you.” I’m not going to say that your eternally damned for cursing, but I don’t think God really appreciates it, even if you are opposing bad things.

I have to agree with no1 home 2. If you have to question your salvation, I have to ask, “Are you born again?” John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” As to the words in the rap – 1John 2:15 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. :16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

It’s not for us to decide if you go to hell or not. That’s God’s right to judge. As for your rapping, I don’t see anything wrong with using rap but the language particularly using the “F word” is a bit much because, when a kid hears your message and that word at the same time, they get a confusing message. Society says using the “F word” is impolite, offensive, and unacceptable. You use the word in conjunction with the message of Jesus Christ. Christ warned about causing the little ones to stumble and the double standard you’re giving is causing them to stumble. You’re teaching them that they should get away from all the things that are bad…………..except foul language. They become followers of Jesus Christ after listening to you, then go to church and use the “F word” because it was ok for you to. You showed them that lesson. So you tell me, is what you’re teaching evil? I say no, it isn’t evil but it isn’t right either and you can find better ways to communicate with these kids. Salvation isn’t about being cool. It’s a life and death issue.
