Question by Sergeant Vince Carter, USMC: Why are individuals who develop businesses and utilize tons of people expected to “give again”?

My query is, hasn’t he granted sufficient? What need to he “give back again”, specifically?

Check the labor theory of value. If you’re an employer, then your rate of profit depends largely on your ability to exploit your employees, by paying them less than what they produce is worth.
In other words, he’s not ‘giving back,’ he’s taking less.

First off the liberals will say that you are lying because they all know the little guy can never make it in this country things are too stacked against them.
They would then say that you are greedy and need to be taught a lesson & cut down to size. Because in their minds they cant succeed & if you do you must be corrupt & evil. Therefore you should be stripped of your wealth. All they can get.

Clearly people don’t understand the need for the wealthy. I use them for employment. The owner of my company has given me a job, insurance, some sense of security, & lets me provide for my family. I need him to get on his jet & fly around the country sealing deals to further allow me to work. No, the guy you mentioned has done enough. If he wanted to be a butthead, he would sell off his company piece by piece & pocket the profits. But he probably sees that he does provide for thousands of families & if no one ever thanked him, they should.

I certainly agree that he should not have MORE money taken from him by taxes.
But I do think those who have a lot, even if the worked for it & earned it, have a moral duty to give. But it should be their choice to give & their choice as to what charity they choose to give to.

Give back to who exactly? I think a person in this position certainly pays more than his share of taxes and deserves to enjoy the fruits of his labor. He has provided many with living incomes.
However, as a successful person myself, I don’t consider it giving back to help the disabled or children. I do feel a sense of giving back to the veterans who fought for this country though. So, I guess you could say in that aspect. Some should be acknowledged for serving and protecting us from harm.

He should give back what he feels able to give back. If during the 40 years since starting the business he has acquired compassion and concern for those less able or fortunate, then he will give a lot. If on the other hand he has not gained that compassion and concern, then he will not willingly be able to give anything. So let him do what he is able, without criticism from others or feeling bad about himself.

Although your scenario describes the majority of successful entrepreneurs, it doesn’t take into consideration the liberal-lie that all rich people were born with a silver spoon in their mouth. You know – spoiled brats who hate poor people, and exploit them for their own sick amusement. Until you understand that reality is irrelevant – you will never understand the liberal mindset…..

Commerce, exists for the good of the people of this country…..not the other way around.
You assume the person who built this imaginary company is the only hard working person in the company…
When you incorporate a company (not S type), you effectively make the corporation it’s own entity… and you take an owner’s “draw” as income. The tax that the corporation pays on PROFIT, is not the same or in any way related to the tax the owner/officer/board members pay on their INCOME…
An incorporated company exists for the benefit of all of it’s employess, it’s consumers, it’s investors, and of course it’s owners…. any tax policy that favors one over the other is bad idea…it needs to be balanced…FAIRLY.
Until you distinguish the difference between a tax on corporate PROFIT, and tax on the owners INCOME… in your “scenario”….there’s less to argue about than you think there is.
Why should the owners’ secretary pay more of a ratio of tax on her paycheck than him ?… explain me this ?… hasn’t she worked hard too ?… shouldn’t some of this burden be shared ? Why should the tax CAPS be so low ?… why haven’t they changed with the rate of inflation ?… fact is they are outdated,….when the caps were instituted over 60 years ago, for example the SS tax cap, …a 200,000 salary would be the equivelant of several million today. This is how the middle class came to endure more and more of the tax burden….by not modernizing the tax scales/caps/laws.
Also, your imaginary business owner probably doesn’t pay as much tax as you think he does…. there are a lot of shelters for people who can afford to pay a CPA to find them.
Here’s a REAL scenario for you…
I worked as an IT Manager for a modest residential home builder for over 6 years….they built regular 3/2 starter homes… and I couldn’t afford to buy a house built by the company I work for, because my take home pay isn’t what it should be. How does that situation help me or the company I work for when I can’t afford to own a home, and they’re not able to sell me one ?
A tax break for the owner’s INCOME of that company wouldn’t translate into more jobs within the company, nor would a tax hike on his income translate into less jobs…. but a tax break for it’s employees that enables them to skim over the threshold of being able to afford a home…would help the company, the economy, and the employee..

I absolutely hate that saying of, “give back”! It implies that the person was “given” something when in fact they worked hard to build their business. I prefer to call it giving, as in giving opportunity to others, while at the same time expanding your horizons.
And to the guy who is complaining about pay, it’s not like you were forced to work at your place of employment. If you feel you are worth more, ask for a raise or find a better job, or better yet get more education or training to move up. In fact, just be fortunate you had a damn job.
