Question by whoa: As a volunteer firefighter, how often am I necessary to “operate”?
I am thinking of joining the volunteer fire division, but naturally I have a complete-time job. I am a delivery driver and makes it impossible to respond to calls whilst I’m operating. so if a call goes out when I am at function will they require me to respond? I know it varies by division. I actually don’t know how this functions but I am taking into consideration it. I’d like to be in a position to volunteer for the duration of my spare time.

It will vary so widely type one particular department to the subsequent that you will have to do some leg perform and find out what the needs are for the certain department you are thinking of joining are. some only require 5% of total monthly calls and are on a pager technique, other people, like mine need you to be on duty at the station itself for a minimum of 24 hours signed up for in advance, no pager method. all depends on the wants of the community, a single issue that is a continual is that it demands A LOT of education just before you even set foot on an engine.
